Free & Funded Study Options

Eligible domestic learners may be able to study NZCEL at WIE without paying tuition fees, subject to programme eligibility, available funding, and enrolment criteria.

Overview

Domestic students studying English in a classroom setting in New Zealand

The New Zealand government provides funding through the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to support eligible learners to study at approved providers like WIE. This funding may cover tuition fees for qualifying programmes.

Eligible domestic learners may be able to study without tuition fees, subject to:

  • Programme eligibility (not all programmes may be funded)
  • Available funding and enrolment capacity
  • Meeting WIE's enrolment criteria
  • Satisfying residency or citizenship requirements

Who May Be Eligible?

Domestic learners who may be eligible for free or subsidised study typically include:

  • New Zealand citizens — holders of a New Zealand passport
  • New Zealand residents — holders of a New Zealand residence class visa
  • Australian citizens — may be eligible for some funded places
  • Refugees and protected persons — check with WIE for specific eligibility

Note: Eligibility criteria are set by the government and may change. WIE will assess your individual circumstances to determine if you qualify for funded study.
