Academic Study Pathways
NZCEL qualifications may support further study, but entry requirements are set by each institution and programme. NZQA describes the outcomes of each qualification; confirm directly with the receiving institution whether a specific NZCEL qualification meets its current requirements.

Check the receiving institution's current requirements
There is no universal IELTS-to-NZCEL equivalence. Entry criteria depend on the institution, qualification, programme and version. Confirm English, academic and any additional requirements directly with the receiving institution.
Use NZQA's records for the official qualification title, reference and outcomes. For example, check the Level 4 Academic qualification (ref 1883) and Level 5 Academic qualification (ref 1884). These records do not establish acceptance by a receiving institution.
